| Budget $300 per year for random stuff going wrong and that should cover problems. If you don't spend it that year, roll it over for next year. If you go 2 years without a problem, hold that $600...you probably won't need more than that for unexpected problems if you stay stage III or less. Budget $700 for the 60k service if it hasn't been done on the car you buy. You can do oil changes yourself but you will want a jack and stands (it can be done by driving up on a couple 2x4s, but seems unsafe to me). Budget $800 for tires if you want the best or close to it any time soon. Call your insurance company and ask about insurance on a car similar to what you think you can find in your area. Finally, to go from stock to stage III costs about $1500. You will no doubt want to do this soon after buying the car. Hope you get a nice job after graduation. And a place to work on the car a little.
